A Service For All With A Difference, Held On The First Sunday of Every Month at St Helens, Darley Dale
“See I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.”
Open Door is a brand new concept and venture which is for young, old, and people from all backgrounds.
We believe there are people out there who would love to take part in a church service but feel they are unable to because of the nature of their or a member of their families disability.
We realise that there are often complex reasons why families and others would find conventional church hard and inaccessible; with this in mind we looked at using person centred ideas to extend our approach as a church to meeting people where they are instead of expecting them to conform to our formalities.
Saint Helen’s Church building is typical of an old style church which dates back to the middle ages.
We have endeavoured to look at the facilities we have and adapt them as best as we can to provide a relaxed, fun filled, worshipful, non judgemental, caring environment where people can feel at ease and at home.
There are many life changing experiences in our lives of which Autism is just one example; often a hidden disability can bring difficulties for both the person with the condition and those who care and live alongside them.
There will be a variety of styles and up to date concepts and approaches to worship.
We will explore together how we can meet with each other and a Living God who Cares and Loves us just as we are.
There will be times for laughter, fun, friendship, tea, coffee, cake and lots of new experiences.
Be part of This Family; Come and see what we are all about!
The final piece of the picture is you.
We look forward to meeting you and your families.
Acceptance of all children, young people and adults from all backgrounds and disabilities without judgement showing the Love and Mercy of Christ Jesus to all who enter through His Open Door.
His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
For to be sure he was Crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God’s Power.
Likewise we are weak in Him, yet by God’s Power we will live to serve you.
The Heart of Jesus
In everything we do.
