We are very lucky to have three beautiful churches in our United Benefice and each year we are pleased to celebrate weddings in each church.
Sadly, many people think they cannot get married in church for various reasons. The reality is people are very welcome to get married in our churches. They are also very welcome to have their wedding blessed. All are very welcome to get married or have a blessing in our three churches.
For costs, see our fees page.
St. Helen’s can arrange for an organist to play for weddings. There is also a sound system in church if you want to bring your own music to be played. Most couples choose music for when the bride enters the church, during the signing of the register and for when the bride and groom leave the church. In addition, two or three hymns are chosen to be sung during the service. It is a good idea to choose well known hymns that your guests will know. You may know exactly what music and hymns you want but if you don’t, here are some possibilities:
All things bright and beautiful
Amazing Grace
Bind us together
Give me oil in my lamp
Guide me O Thou Great Redeemer
I danced in the morning
Immortal Invisible
Jerusalem
Lord of all hopefulness
Love Divine
Make me a channel

Now thank we all our God
O Jesus I have promised

Take my life and let it be

We pledge to one another
